Karen Sproston originally founded Beacon Law in 2002. It was originally called and traded as “Sprostons Solicitors”. 

Karen previously worked in a number of personal injury law firms in Manchester, ranging from the very small to the very large firms. 

Sproston Solicitors was started with the belief that it could merge both types of law firms positives; the friendly, approachable, down-to-earth and personal service of a small firm, with the efficient systems, resources and expertise of the larger firms. 

In 2010, Mark Brierley became an accomplice in the firm, giving a further injection of youth and energy. No Win, No Fee Solicitors, Richmond 

We offer a “No Win, No Fee” basis. This means that you are unlikely to be required to pay any legal fees if your case is unsuccessful. 

We always offer the ‘No Win No Fee’ Agreement in conjunction with an After the Event (ATE) Insurance policy so that you will not be at risk of incurring any adverse costs if the case were to fail. 

This means that you will not have to pay any fees if you lose, and you will therefore be able to pursue your claim with a great degree of security. 

This insurance policy is known as After the Event Insurance (ATE).  

If you are unsuccessful in your case, you will not have to pay for the ATE protection. However, if your claim is successful, you will be responsible for the payment of our success fee and the insurance premium, which would be deducted from your final award of compensation.

Who Will Be Responsible for My Case?

Your case will be given to one of our personal injury solicitors who will conduct your claim from start to finish. Your solicitor may delegate certain tasks relating to your case to other individuals within the firm. You will be advised of your solicitor’s name and contact details at the outset of your claim, and they will work with you every step of the way throughout the claims process.

Your claim is subject to constant supervision from one of the firm’s partners, and in the event your assigned solicitor cannot answer your queries, or you are concerned about something relating to your case, you should not hesitate to contact the supervising partner.

How long do you have to make a personal injury claim?

The standard time limit for personal injury claims is generally three years from the date of the accident or incident that caused the injury. This means that you have three years from the date of the incident to file a claim.

However, there are some exceptions and nuances to be aware of:

1. Date of Knowledge: If you didn’t immediately realise that you had suffered an injury (such as an occupational disease), the three-year time limit may start from the date you became aware of the injury.
2. Children: If the injured person was under the age of 18 at the time of the incident, the three-year time limit typically doesn’t begin until their 18th birthday. So, they would generally have until their 21st birthday to file a claim.
3. Mental Capacity: If the injured person lacked the mental capacity to handle their own affairs, there may be no time limit for making a claim as long as they remain incapacitated.
4. Fatal Injuries: In cases of fatal injuries, the family or dependents may have three years from the date of death to make a claim.
