Beacon Law was originally founded in 2002 by Karen Sproston, and traded for almost ten years as “Sprostons Solicitors”.

Karen previously worked in a number of personal injury law firms in Manchester, ranging from the very small, to the very large firms.

Karen founded the firm with the belief that she could take the positives from both types of law firm firm; the friendly, approachable, down-to-earth and personal service of a small firm, with the efficient systems and resources and absolute specialism and expertise of the larger firms. And so, Sprostons Solicitors was born.

In 2010, Mark Brierley became a partner in the firm, giving a further injection of youthful enthusiasm and energy. Mark has been keen to ensure that the firm continuously upgrades and improves its service and has strong involvement with the development of the firm’s cutting edge IT systems to allow claims to be handled efficiently, and in order that we can meet the changing needs and requirements of our clients in the way we interact with them.

Funding Your Case

We provide our services on a on a ‘no win no fee’ basis. This means that as long as you are compliant throughout the case, you are unlikely to be ordered to pay any fees if you are unsuccessful. We will deduct our fees from your compensation on conclusion of the case.

Although you may not have to pay our firm’s fees if you lose, you may be personally responsible for payment of your opponent’s expenses and costs. For this reason we always try to offer the ‘No Win No Fee’ Agreement in conjunction with an insurance policy so that you will not incur any personal liability for your opponent’s costs if the claim were to fail.

This means that you will not have to pay any fees if you lose and you will therefore be able to pursue your claim with a considerable degree of security. This insurance policy is known as after the event insurance (ATE). If you lose, you may not be required to pay for the insurance. If your claim is successful, you will be responsible for the payment of the insurance premium and the same would be deducted from your final compensation.
